The Challenge

The Marine Conservation Society needed experienced leadership to support its social media team while maintaining momentum across multiple campaigns and channels.

The role required more than day-to-day content management. It involved leading a busy team, supporting colleagues, shaping strategy and ensuring paid and organic activity worked together to deliver consistent results for the organisation.

My Approach

As Interim Social Media Manager, I provided both strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the charity's social media activity.

My responsibilities included:

  • Leading and supporting the social media team.

  • Line managing staff and providing coaching and guidance.

  • Developing and overseeing organic and paid social media strategy.

  • Supporting campaign planning and delivery across multiple departments.

  • Using performance insights to inform future content and campaign decisions.

  • Ensuring activity aligned with wider organisational communications objectives.

Throughout my contract, I worked closely with colleagues across the charity to strengthen processes, support the team and maintain a consistent, high-quality social media presence.

Highlights included:

  • 149% increase in followers.

  • 150% increase in content interactions.

  • 106% increase in page visits.
